kubuni carpentry

The Olive Branch for Children (TOBFC) Kubuni Carpentry pilot program was born out of our commitment to help every child entrusted in our care to reach their full educational potential. We cared for two boys who were deaf, bright, and incredible human beings. They needed an educational journey in Tanzania designed specifically for them. Upon determining their skills and aptitudes, a plan was created to train the boys as carpenters. A third deaf young man joined the training program.

This training was incredibly successful and the three carpenters now have their own store in Nyigmaba. They continue to receive TOBFC carpentry tenders, accept work from the entire Uyole community, as well as local government tenders.

This model of training for people with disabilities has proven so promising we have now expanded it to include tailoring services. Other trades may be included in the future, and as the program continues to expand we may rename it Kubuni Trades.

The TOBFC Kubuni Carpentry program helps people living with disabilities gain financial independence and security. Supporting these individuals with skilled trades training empowers them to contribute essential services to their communities, while living a dignified life full of promise.
