health care

The Olive Branch for Children (TOBFC) believes that access to healthcare is a right. Our Health Care pillar is the group of programs that address health issues communities in our catchment area face.

We provide the most remote communities with access to health services and information, provide referrals and support to community members to access larger hospitals, and deliver monthly medicines to peoples' doors. We understand that these services address the current barriers to accessing care, but are not the most sustainable solution in the future. This is why we work with the District Government to build permanent health facilities.

TOBFC conducts community outreach programs providing various health services to increase the health awareness and education of our catchment area. Over the past few years, TOBFC has run programming that has improved the health and related knowledge of thousands of individuals.

TOBFC conducts community seminars on topics such as:

  • diabetes, high blood pressure, epilepsy and mental health, educating thousands of community members about prevalent health challenges in their communities

  • women’s health, educating hundreds of women about breast and ovarian cancer, family planning and menopause

  • sexual health, raising awareness about sexually transmitted diseases, promoting safe sex and proper use of condoms, and reducing stigma associated with HIV/AIDS

TOBFC conducts hand washing campaigns, educating parents about hygiene and prevention of diarrheal diseases. Over 50 hand-washing stations have been built in kindergarten schools and communities served by TOBFC.
